$70 worth data recovery software for free

iCare – one of the data recovery softwares available is offering a special giveaway this festival season and I think no one would offer such an amazing tool worth $70 ( OH MY GOD ) for free and for lifetime, I mean once you install it on your PC you do not need to renew it for lifetime. But, if you have it uninstalled or had your PC formatted, you may have to buy it again for 70 bucks.

Personally, I had my hard drives crashed, had to format my thumbdrives because of viruses etc. I bought Recover My Files for the same rate as of iCare and thought it is worth a buy. But, after seeing this festival offer from iCare, I regret that I should have waited for some time. Anyways I downloaded and tested this software and it was able to recover the data from my formatted thumbdrive ( 4GB ) in just 6 minutes.

Anyways, if you hadn’t bought any data recovery software lately, you could DOWNLOAD this free software from icare-recovery.com and follow the instructions on their page. And more important, this amazing giveaway closes on December 25, 2010. So, go grab your copy of iCare – Data Recovery Software worth $70 for free.

Top 5 Notebooks of 2010

With only a month to go for the year 2010, I thought I would recap few of the top listed gadgets in their category and the first to list is the TOP 5 NOTEBOOKS of 2010. I got this list of notebooks from one of the magazine which I read and I thought it might be useful for someone who is planning to buy notebook this festival season.

5th Place – All new Apple Mac Book Air
Apple has always been innovative in their products and this new Mac Book Air is no exception. The use of Solid State Drive has helped this Mac Book Air much thinner than its earlier version. And the Solid State Drive means much more to the notebook such as instant on from sleep like the iPad, better batter life etc. Although, the price is bit high for few of us, it is still worth the money (if you have enough to spend)

Personally, am not a fan of Acer. But, most of the benchmark test comparisons showed that the Acer TimelineX laptops perform much better than most renouned companies’ laptops. Especially, this model has some good battery life and performs better than most laptops in its class. And to the surprise, it is also capable of playing some of the high end games.
Now, that’s a pretty good name given to this notebook – Gaming Notebook. And what takes the gaming experience to the next level? The 3D fever. Yes, the 3D capable Nvidia GeForce GTX260 graphics card makes gaming on this machine a sheer pleasure. The wireless 3D emitter and the 3D glasses make the gaming experience never before on any of the laptops.

2nd Place – HP Elitebook 2540P
This elitebook from HP is thin and light. It has the fast i7 processor from Intel and the battery life is also pretty decent. It has got Solid State Drive which makes the laptop to boot and perform faster.
And now, for the top spot of this year’s notebook. The name itself says that it is a beast designed to perform.

1st Place - Alienware M17X
With its core i7 Q720 processor, 8GB of RAM with two ATI HD 4870 GPUs, this is the gaming beast. With its amazing looks and great performance, attention to this laptop is guaranteed.
So, there you go fellas, the Top 5 notebooks of 2010. Any of you planning to buy any of these laptops, check out the links provided and I assure you would not regret your decision. And, if any of you are not convinced with this list of notebooks or too heavy for your pockets, then you can check out the Best Selling Notebooks of this season.

Tips to generate a secure and strong password for sensitive and confidential accounts

While I was browsing through the internet, I read an article which said that a pretty famous website has been hacked and all its user’s passwords were stolen. And another article which I read said that people keep very simple passwords like 123456, password etc for their very important logins like net banking etc. I was taken aback to know that people are so ignorant about keeping such weak passwords which virtually means offering a free cake to the hackers.

I wanted to educate the few of those who visit my site on how to generate a secure and strong password, how to protect sensitive accounts such as personal email ids, bank accounts etc from hackers. So, here are some of the tips on how to create strong and secure passwords.
  • Never keep your personal details as your password. For example, your name, your father/mother’s name, dates of birth etc.
  • Never keep the same passwords for all your accounts.
  • Do not use a dictionary word as your password because there are few tools available over the internet which can try to login to your account by trying the words from the dictionary.
  • Try to use at least one number, special character, upper case letter in your password.
  • Change your password frequently. I would recommend you to change the passwords of sensitive accounts such as bank accounts every one month.
  • If you are tired of thinking of a strong password, you can try some free password generators available over the internet such as PCTools’ Secure Password Generator, Strong Password Generator etc.
  • And, if you feel that you might forget your password or you have so many accounts that you can’t remember which password goes to which account, you can use password managers such as KeePass .

Hope the above tips might be useful for someone. If any of you have another way of making the passwords secure, do let know.

Sony Cybershot DSC W350 Digital Camera Review

The Sony Cybershot DSC W350 is an excellent pick for the holiday season. I am not going to give you the specifications like length, breadth etc as you can find them at the product's website. I wish to give an overview about the camera's functionality, features and0 is it worth the money.

Still photography:
The Sony Cybershot DSC W350 is a 14.1 MegaPixel camera with 26mm wide angle F27 lens, 4x wide angle zoom with Optical Image Stabilization and a bright 2.7 inch LCD that is packed on to a compact, sleek structure. It is so small that it is smaller than most mobile phones that are available today. The operation of the camera is so simple that even a person who doesn't know to hold the camera too can take amazing pictures with this. The camera comes with Sony's intelligent auto shoot mode with which any novice user can take great pictures without worrying about the lighting conditions. Another amazing feature of this camera is that it can shoot underwater but with an additional cost for housing. The EASY mode makes it much more easier for newbies to work with the camera. The PANAROMA capturing is much more easier in W350.

Video recording :
Videos can be recorded at 720p HD quality and the optical zoom can also be used while recording.

Uploading images to facebook :
Another attractive feature of the W350 is the native software which can be used to upload your pictures and videos shot using W350 directly to your facebook, twitter or any other sites when the camera is connected to the computer.

Photo quality :
Photo quality is good upto ISO 400 and were also decent at ISO 800 and ISO 1600. It has a low shutter lag and hence you will get a better picture of the shot you want to take.

Battery Life :
Inorder to make the camera small, Sony has used a small battery which doesn't last long and hence one may need to have a back up battery if you are on a trip.

Memory :
The camera supports both Sony's memory stick and also the standard SD cards. But, Sony doesn't provide memory card with the camera.

Conclusion :
All these features make the Sony Cybershot DSC W350 a great worth for the money and a perfect gift for someone you love this festive season.

Check out great deals for Sony Cybershot on Amazon.com and lets make your special ones this festival season more special :) Happy Festive season :)

Suzuki Slingshot 125cc Review

In spite of the efforts taken by Suzuki to find its place in the two wheeler market, it couldn’t succeed in it due to the fact that it couldn’t deliver to the needs and likings of the teens. But, Suzuki doesn’t seem to be tired of trying. It has again come up with a new bike, Slingshot and this time it has targeted the 125cc market.

Style:
The Slingshot resembles the GS 150. The bike looks huge considering it is only a 125cc bike. The bike comes in a mixture of 2 colors with Black being the common color in all. The headlight is very powerful and there is a small box which houses the analog speedometer and gear indicators. The fuel indicator and trip meter are also available in this bike.

The bike comes in two styles, with spoke wheels and with alloy wheels. Though, the present day youth doesn’t like the spoke wheels, the spoke wheels doesn’t suit this bike. The Y shaped spoke wheels are different and looking great on the bike. But, the twin horn which is present in the GS, is not available in Slingshot. Though, the Slingshot has only a single horn, the decibels coming out of it sounds enough to grab others attention in the road. The Slingshot also has the pass light switch. It also has an Engine kill switch, which is welcome and helps greatly in signals.

The quality of the control levers and switches are good and the control levers’ grip is amazing that even if you drive for very long hours, you will not feel the pain. The rear view mirrors are of great quality and reflect the images well and good. Though the petrol tank design is innovative, the tank lid is not attached to the tank which is kind of old fashioned.
The silencer and the side ward design of the bike is eye catching but in my opinion, the tail light and the grab rail is not that captivating. Overall the bike looks good and the paint finish is also great.

Engine, Gearbox and Performance:
The engine of Zeus which is 124cc 4 stroke single cylinder engine has been ported to the Slingshot. The remarkable thing about Suzuki’s engine is its smoothness and the Slingshot’s engine is also very smooth and vibration free. It produces a maximum power of 8.7 bhp at 7000 rpm. The torque output is 1.01 kgm at 3500 rpm. The only negative about Slingshot is the lack of power. It weighs 14 kilogram higher than Zeus. Since this doesn’t produce much power, it feels as though you are driving a 100cc bike.

Slingshot reaches 0-60 kmph in 8.69 seconds and 0-80 kmph in 18.37 seconds. Top speed of Slingshot is 100 kmph.

Handling and braking :
Since the handlebar is placed at high position, the riders will not get back pain while driving. 18 inch wheel rim is present in Slingshot. The petrol tank is designed to set with the thigh position of the driver. But since the seat is very soft, it is not comfortable to drive a long way. Handling of Slingshot is very easy.

The drum brake model of Slingshot stops within 21.74 meters when applied brake at 60 kmph. The disk brake model of Slingshot is yet to hit the market.

Mileage:
The reason why people lookout for a 125cc bike is its mileage. The mileage of Slingshot is not disappointing. The Slingshot gives a mileage of 53.2 kmpl in city traffic conditions and 57.5 kmpl in highways.

Optimze browser memory consumption & Speed Up browsing in Firefox 4 without using BarTab addon

Although there are number of browsers available over the internet, a person is never satisfied with the performance of his/her browser. We are always looking out for a way to optimize or speed up your browser. Well, here I am with another way to optimize your browser. The browser war is raging day by day with the software giants Microsoft (Internet Explorer 9) and Google (Chrome 9) coming up with their enhanced browser. The favorites, Mozilla has also come up with its enhanced browser, Firefox 4. All these three browsers are in beta stage and the competition has already began.

Here is a tip to speed up the Firefox by optimizing the memory utilization of the browser.
Note: This tip is applicable only to Firefox version 4 Beta 7 or higher.

1. Open Firefox 4 and type about:config in the address bar and press Enter.

2. You will see a warning message. Nevermind, click on I'll be careful,I Promise! button to go the Firefox configuration page.

3. In the Filter box, type browser.sessionstore.max_concurrent_tabs. You will get the Preference listed under Preference Name.

4. Double click on browser.sessionstore.max_concurrent_tabs under Preference name and a dialog box pops up.

5. Change the value to 0

6. Click OK and restart Firefox 4.

The above trick functions in such a way that if any tab is idle for some time, it would be moved of the RAM. If you click on the tab, it would be moved to the RAM and the page refreshes. The effect of this trick could be felt when more than 10 number of tabs were open at the same time.
