Optimze browser memory consumption & Speed Up browsing in Firefox 4 without using BarTab addon

Although there are number of browsers available over the internet, a person is never satisfied with the performance of his/her browser. We are always looking out for a way to optimize or speed up your browser. Well, here I am with another way to optimize your browser. The browser war is raging day by day with the software giants Microsoft (Internet Explorer 9) and Google (Chrome 9) coming up with their enhanced browser. The favorites, Mozilla has also come up with its enhanced browser, Firefox 4. All these three browsers are in beta stage and the competition has already began.

Here is a tip to speed up the Firefox by optimizing the memory utilization of the browser.
Note: This tip is applicable only to Firefox version 4 Beta 7 or higher.

1. Open Firefox 4 and type about:config in the address bar and press Enter.

2. You will see a warning message. Nevermind, click on I'll be careful,I Promise! button to go the Firefox configuration page.

3. In the Filter box, type browser.sessionstore.max_concurrent_tabs. You will get the Preference listed under Preference Name.

4. Double click on browser.sessionstore.max_concurrent_tabs under Preference name and a dialog box pops up.

5. Change the value to 0

6. Click OK and restart Firefox 4.

The above trick functions in such a way that if any tab is idle for some time, it would be moved of the RAM. If you click on the tab, it would be moved to the RAM and the page refreshes. The effect of this trick could be felt when more than 10 number of tabs were open at the same time.
